Landscape Architecture Class

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Environment Planning offers three Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A.) degree programs which are structured to equip students with advanced design and planning abilities:

  • The 3-year M.L.A. degree may be the first professional degree accredited through the American Society of Landscape Designers (ASLA). This degree is perfect for students with non-design skills.

Students are needed to choose and finish 1 of 2 plans for that degree: Plan I — Thesis, or Plan II — Comprehensive Exam (professional project or designated studio.) The thesis is perfect for students who would like to do original research on the condition in landscape architecture or environment planning. The thesis committee consists of two faculty people in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environment Planning along with a third faculty member from another department at Berkeley. The excellent exam format could be whether professional project or perhaps a designated studio that demonstrates broad competence as well as the concepts and abilities essential to the area of landscape architecture. The professional project includes a report of only 40 pages of text with appropriate professional sketches. It ought to document a genuine-world project.
